Week 11 - Food (June 11-17)

Well sorry for not posting anything for the last few weeks. I actually did take some of the same pictures for this, but I figure I might as well just start where I left off. We are finally settled enough in our house for me to start this again. Between trying to get photography work and dealing with a 1 1/2 year old, life catches up and becomes crazy.

Week 9: Sunset

Well this weeks theme was sunset/sunrise. This week has been nothing but icky and cold. Today was the 1st nice day, but unfortunately no real sunset.  So I thought a little outside of the box and started looking for items around the house that had the same colors as a sunset. Next best thing right? Well in my finds were my pineapple plants which I am going to miss dearly. I really wish I could ship them home.  Anyways, the reds, pinks, greens, and everything just reminds me of what a sunset usually looks like. Well maybe not so much the greens, unless their is severe weather or a tornado near.  Of course I am late on this too. Hey, don't hate, it happens and it got D-U-N DONE.  <-- Thanks Phil for always saying that.  Well here is this weeks photo.

Week 8: Black and White

Finally I am in my comfort zone. Black and White. Oh how I love black and white pictures. I think it just share much more of a story and freezes time more than color.

Week 7: Catchlights

Catchlights are simply a light source reflected in the eyes of your subject.
I had the pleasure this week to shoot a little girl for her 1 year pictures. We had so much fun. She was too cute even in the sand.

Week 6: Negative Space

Well, this weeks theme is negative space. I love off centered photography and using the rule of thirds. Anyway, I had the privilege to take family photos for our good friends the "B" family. There is nothing like getting silhouettes of all 4 of them ( yes even baby "L's" head could be seen) in a little rock over hang. The day was perfect.

Week 5: Reflection

Of course last minute again. I need to step it up. This week I had such a hard time finding inspiration on reflection. I didn't want to do a self portrait in the mirror. The pictures of my son's 1st hair cut didn't quite make the cut either. So I searched the great World Wide Web and found inspiration.
Plus since Valentine's Day is creeping up on us I think this is very fitting.

Week 4: Natural Light

This weeks theme is all about natural lighting. Since my husband's and my 3 year anniversary was on the 22nd, he brought home pretty tulips and sweet peas. Perfect items to photograph. This sweet pea turned out to be my absolute favorite. Hope you enjoy.

Week 3: Closeup

Well for some reason closeups, aka macro, shots are usually my favorite thing to do. This week I had the hardest time getting a picture I liked though. So of course in true fashion, I waited until the very last day to shoot and get a picture I liked.
This weeks picture is of the Girl Scouts cookies Thanks-A-Lot. It's that season and well why not.

Week 2: Speed

This week I decided to challenge myself a little and go with the theme of speed. Thank you to my awesome husband helping me out by pouring water on my plate at 10 PM. I chose 2 for this weeks blog. I am pretty happy with both even if one is a little more gray then I would prefer. But hey, this is a learning experience. Until next week enjoy!

Week 1: Stop and Smell the Roses

This week, week one, I was lost. I have been wanting to do this project for weeks now. I have been so excited to start it, but suddenly the 1st was here. Time to start. I was at a blank on what to do. Seriously? How hard is it just to go out and take a picture? Maybe I started over thinking things. It was really frustrating.
Thankfully my son, Jackson, told me today that I needed flowers. Well since he is only a year old and can't talk, he is my excuse for having flowers. I was able to get some very pretty pink roses today. We all just need to stop and smell them or at least take time to stop and enjoy life's little pleasures.
Here it is, my week one picture.  It's nothing great, the center isn't in focus, but the out rims tend to tell a story. A story about the path that you are on right now might be clear right in front of you, or even a few miles down the road, but the future isn't always so clear.

Please feel free to critique any of my work from week to week. As this is a learning experience.
